JAMS Lesson Policy

By enrolling in lessons with Jackson Audio & Music Supply, the student, parent, or guardian agrees to the following policies.

Lesson Scheduling

Private and shared lessons are generally 30 minutes long and are scheduled for the same day and time each week.

Full Band Lessons are 60 minutes long.

Group Guitar and Group Theory lessons are scheduled and paid for three months at a time in advance. Fees for other group lessons may vary depending on the number of students enrolled.

Lessons are available for students ages 5 and older unless otherwise approved by JAMS.

Monthly Tuition

Lessons are paid monthly at the rate listed on the JAMS Lessons Page.

Your monthly payment reserves your assigned weekly lesson time for the entire month. Payment is required for the full month, including weeks when the student has a planned absence.

There are no exceptions to the monthly payment requirement.

Months containing a fifth lesson day may include a regularly scheduled lesson or may be used as a makeup lesson when applicable.

Applicable taxes will be added to the listed lesson price.

Payment Due Dates

The first month of lessons must be paid in full before the student’s first lesson.

After the first month, payment for the upcoming month is due by the student’s final scheduled lesson of the current month.

For example, payment for July lessons is due by the student’s final lesson in June.

If payment is not received by the final lesson of the month, the student may lose their current lesson day, time, or instructor.

If payment has not been received by the first lesson of the new month, lessons will not be provided until the account is paid in full.

It is the responsibility of the student, parent, or guardian to ensure that the account remains current.

Student Absences and Cancellations

Lessons missed or canceled by the student are not refundable and will not be credited.

A missed lesson may be made up on a fifth lesson day when one is available. JAMS may also attempt to reschedule the lesson, but makeup lessons are not guaranteed and depend on instructor and schedule availability.

A qualified substitute instructor may be assigned for a makeup lesson when necessary.

Unless a JAMS representative confirms otherwise in writing, a lesson missed or canceled by the student is considered forfeited for that week.

Planned Absences

Students are still responsible for the full monthly payment when they know in advance that they will miss a lesson.

Monthly payment reserves the student’s assigned lesson day and time regardless of attendance.

Instructor Absences

If an instructor misses a lesson, JAMS will make reasonable efforts to:

• Reschedule the lesson

• Provide a qualified substitute instructor

• Issue a refund or account credit for that specific lesson if neither option is possible

Late Arrivals

Students who arrive late will receive only the time remaining in their scheduled lesson period.

The lesson will still end at the regularly scheduled time so that the next student’s lesson is not delayed.

Inclement Weather

If the Jackson R-II School District cancels school due to inclement weather, JAMS lessons may also be canceled.

When a weather-related cancellation occurs, JAMS will offer a rescheduled lesson, refund, or account credit for the affected lesson.

Unless a JAMS representative contacts you regarding a cancellation, assume that your lesson will take place as scheduled.

Holidays and JAMS Closures

If a lesson falls on a holiday or another date when JAMS is closed, the lesson will be rescheduled.

A JAMS representative will notify the student’s primary contact when the store will be closed.

Unless you receive notice from a JAMS representative, assume that your lesson will take place as scheduled.

Instructor and Schedule Changes

JAMS may occasionally need to change a student’s instructor, lesson day, or lesson time due to instructor availability, staffing changes, scheduling needs, or other circumstances.

When a change is necessary, a JAMS representative will make reasonable efforts to notify the student’s primary contact and arrange a suitable alternative.

Books, Instruments, and Supplies

Lesson books, instruments, accessories, strings, drumsticks, cables, and other materials are not included in the monthly lesson fee unless specifically stated otherwise.

Depending on the instructor, instrument, and course of study, students may be required to purchase a lesson book, maintain access to a properly functioning instrument, or obtain additional accessories and supplies needed for lessons and practice.

The instructor or a JAMS representative will notify the student, parent, or guardian when specific materials are required.

Instructors and JAMS Representatives

JAMS will assign a qualified instructor to each student.

The instructor’s role is to teach, guide, and educate the student. Instructors are not responsible for managing lesson-policy questions, attendance notices, scheduling, rescheduling, payment concerns, or account issues.

Payments may be made through the JAMS website or at the front counter on the main level of the store.

All questions regarding payments, scheduling, rescheduling, attendance, cancellations, or this Lesson Policy must be directed to an official JAMS representative rather than the instructor.

Policy Acceptance

By enrolling in lessons and submitting payment, the student, parent, or guardian confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to the JAMS Lesson Policy.
